KUALA LUMPUR, 20 October 2014 – Three researchers from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) have bagged awards at the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) Malaysia Awards 2014.

Prof Dr. Ahmad Fauzi Ismail was awarded the Innovator of the Year Award while Assoc. Prof Dr Ida Idayu Mohamad begged the Process Safety Award, and The Sustainable Technology Award went to Dr. Haslenda Hashim.

Dr. Haslenda Hashim with her award-winning project, Integrated Distributed Energy Application Software (IDEAS) was being shortlisted for the IChemE Global Awards 2014 that will be held on 6 November 2014 in the United Kingdom (UK).

Monash University Malaysia won the Education and Training Award while its lecturer, Patrick Tang Siah Ying, won the Young Chemical Engineer in Academia Award.

All winners received their prize from IChemE President, Prof. Geoff Maitland in a ceremony held at Grand Millennium Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

The IChemE Malaysia Awards form part of an exclusive series of events across the world which is to celebrate excellence, innovation and achievement in industries such as oil, gas, water, food and pharmaceutical sectors.

The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) is the global professional organization with 40,000 memberships around the world set up to bring together people with relevant experience or an interest in chemical engineering.

IChemE Malaysian branch was launched in July 2006 in Kuala Lumpur and currently providing services and support to its members in this country.
