Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) as one of Malaysia’s prominent research universities in engineering and technology will be given special recognition at the ‘Night of Achievers’ Ceremony to be held on 11 July 2012 at the Hotel Intercontinental Kuala Lumpur.
The outstanding achievement of UTM in automotive development projects has been included in the Malaysia Book of Records.
UTM, made it into the Malaysia Book of Records in the followings :
‘ARG-10’ with a maximum speed of 190m/h, has a sleek and composite body with a 1.6 litre fuel-injected engine located behind the passenger compartment.
Designed by Automatic Aeronautical Research and Development Group of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), the RM 660,000.00 sports car was launched on September 7th, 1996.
The locally designed ‘FORMULA-M’, measuring 4.5 long and 1.33 m wide, has a 2-litre engine attached to a chassis combining aluminum honeycomb and steel space frame with reinforced plastic body panels mounted on it.
Conforming to the Formula 3 standards, the RM 45,000.00 car was designed and engineered by the Formula-M Team of Automotive Aeronautics Research Development Group (AARG) of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. It was launched on September 7th, 1996.
‘Suria 2020’, with an average speed of 45km/h, is 2 m in width, 6 m in length and weighs 300kg. Designed and engineered by the Solar Car Team of Automotive Aeronautics Research and Development Group of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, it costs about RM 500,000.00 to build. It was unveiled on September 7th, 1996.
