KUALA LUMPUR, 27 September: – Prime Minister Datuk Sri Najib Tun Abd Razak today announced  an allocation of RM10 million for Ainuddin Wahid Endowment Fund as a show of appreciation and in honour of his invaluble  contribution as the pioneering leader in engineering and technology education to the nation.

The Prime Minister said that the fund will be distributed in stages of RM2 million per year for a period of five years.

“The funds will be used to fund five students each year for the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programme at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM),” he said at the launching of the book entitled “Ainuddin Pejuang ‘Degil’ Melayu” at UTM International Campus, today.

Datuk Sri Najib said, students who receive funding through this fund will be the crème de la crème, who will have the opportunity to do attachmment for six months during their study in one of the world-renowned academic institutions such as Oxford, Cambridge, MIT or Imperial College.
