MJIIT UTM Hosts Webinar on Experiences and Lessons Learnt from COVID-19 and Natural Hazard Response and Prevention from Malaysia and Japan

The Malaysia Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur alongside the Embassy of Japan in Malaysia and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Malaysia has organised a webinar entitled, “RESPONDING AND PREPARING FOR NATURAL HAZARDS UNDER THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC: Sharing Challenges and Lessons from Malaysia and Japan.” through live stream on Zoom platform and Disaster Preparedness and Prevention Center (DPPC) Facebook Live.

This webinar provided a co-learning opportunity and aims to share the challenges and lesson from Malaysia and Japan in responding to multiple disasters, such as floods and landslides under the COVID-19 pandemic and suggest the way forward to better reduce and prevent such compound disasters in the future.

Mask On UTM: Confined Water Training with MSDeaf, PMWKL and Youths from B40 Group

Mask On UTM secretariat team, MSDeaf and PMWKL once again leaped at the opportunity to breathe in water, and this time around they underwent confined water training for PADI Open Water License at Pusat Akuatik Darul Ehsan, Shah Alam, Selangor. This session was made exceptional as 4 male youngsters from B40 groups were funded to be part of the CSR Mask On UTM Project and attend the confined water training.

A Kickstart on MJIIT-UTM Special CSR Project: Mask On UTM (Building Diving Careers for the Underprivileged)

12 of Mask On secretariat team, and Mask On project partners were given the opportunity to breathe in water as deep as 5 meters and try the scuba diver’s action which will never be forgotten. This program became the kick-start of our first special project to shape the career of scuba divers among the unemployed with hearing loss and potential poor teenagers.
