Every Ramadan “1 item 1 person Reach out Ramadan” activity is organized by UTM International which serves as an opportunity to all UTM staffs and students to do some charity work for the orphanage. For this year, the program is leaded by Mr Zairi Abidin.

The collections and donations were made for a month during Ramadan at UTM International Office, UTM Johor.

Donation items such as rice, milk powder (Dorga brand), condensed milk (F&N Brand), noodles, sugar, ketchup, soya sauce, biscuits, Milo powder and stationary items were received from UTM staff, students and also some outsiders.

The Southern Lion Company also donated some toothbrushes, shampoo and toothpastes which are specially made for kids (Komodo brand). On 20th June, 2017 all of the donation items were delivered to the orphanage at Pusat Jagaan Kasih Setanggi Jln Cendana, Kg Setanggi, Johor Bahru, Johor.

This orphanage currently accommodates 40 children, aged in between 3 to 6 years. Along with five UTM international students who joined as volunteers for the delivery are the Director of Global Education and Student Experience at UTM International, Prof Dr Nor Haniza Sarmin, with four other UTM International staff.

All volunteers and staffs were greeted very warmly by all the children. All the donators, UTM students and staff have also expressed their wish that this type of program will be held not only during the Ramadan month but also at other times throughout the year so that they have more opportunities of charity and help the unfortunate children.
