UTM jumped 11 places from #228 to #219 in QS World University Rankings 2020
During Ramadhan, UTM International, together with UTM Global Buddies, held a donation drive called “1 Item 1 Person” to provide basic necessities to a local orphanage while spreading awareness regarding underprivileged communities. The campaign that lasted from 20 to 29 May 2019 garnered an overwhelmingly positive response, with contributions made by staff and students of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), and also from the public.
On 16 May 2019, UTM International along with UTM Global Buddies held a iftar and farewell dinner with exchange students and internship students. More than 50 NGS students come to the event to celebrate their last moment together. The dinner was held to reminisce the moments they spent in UTM.
Mechatronics Challenge 2019 was organized by SKMM 3252 (Mechatronics) lecturers on 11th May 2019 at E07, School of Mechanical Engineering. Participated by 197 third year Mechanical Engineering students as well as 3 secondary schools in Johor. Amongst the judges were lecturers from SKE, SKM and also industry representative from Dyson Manufacturing and TDK Electronics.
Four students from the Institut Universitaire de Technologie (IUT) Saint-Malo completed their 10-week internship at the School of Mechanical Engineering, UTM Skudai.

MJIIT’s Chemical Process Engineering graduating students won the IChemE POPSIG Best Final Year Design Award. The award was organised by the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE) Palm Oil Processing Special Interest Group (POPSIG). The award ceremony took place at Monash University Malaysia on 17 June 2019, in conjunction with IChemE POPSIG’s Technical Talk.
MaGIC Cyberjaya, 17 June 2019 – UTM continues to be selected to be amongst the Premier Digital Tech Institutions. The Premier Digital Tech Institutions initiative was jointly developed by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) in 2017, to produce top talents and future leaders not only in digital technologies but other industries such as manufacturing and agriculture. This year, 11 universities and five polytechnics were awarded the recognition of Premier Digital Tech Universities (UTM, UM, UITM, UIA, MMU, Taylors University, APU, Sunway University, TARC, UTAR, dan HELP University) and Premier Digital Polytechnics respectively, placing them as top institutions of higher learnings that can deliver first-class theoretical and practical training.
